If you are into antiques, bric-à-brac and books, make sure you visit Delft on any Thursday or Saturday from April 12th till October 13th, right in the historic center of Delft. By American standards, this would be considered an antique market and not a flea market. There are loads of old-fashioned things on sale and it's fun to wander around.

Besides Saturday, they also have an outdoor market on Thursday. When we were there, the entire Markt was trasformed into a fresh foods market, and plenty of prepared foods from meats to fish, Dutch to Western foods. Also snacks like chocolates, nuts and candy. There were some great looking shops featuring leather and household goods.

You don't need much of a reason to spend time in Delft but this flea market, with stalls strung out alongside the canals, certainly adds to the charm of this town. We spent a few happy hours browsing the stalls and buying some excellent bargains. Expect to see plenty of the famed blue and white ware, amateur period paintings, and miscellaneous.
